We are delighted to announce that the first in-person Leeds Meet since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic will take place on Saturday 16 October from 1pm (updated start time).
We will be returning to our old haunt, The Old Red Bus Station on Vicar Lane.
We kindly ask that you either present proof of vaccination in the NHS app or a negative lateral flow test taken no later than 48 hours before the start of the meet in order to protect other attendees.
The format of the Meet will be similar to those before the pandemic, while we intend to have a fursuit walk at 3pm, weather permitting.
This will be the first meet since February 2020 and we are really looking forward to seeing you all again.
Also, don’t forget we also have a casual Coffee Meet at Geek Retreat next Tuesday, 5 October, from 5:30pm.Back to all News and Reports
After the success of the Coffee Meet on 21 September, our first since the COVID pandemic, we are delighted to inform you that these will be returning regularly. They will move back to their usual position of the first Tuesday of every month from 5 October and will be at Geek Retreat in Central Arcade between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.
Going forward, to ensure everyone’s safety, you must demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated through the NHS app or present a negative lateral flow test which has been taken no later than 48 hours before the meet commencing. It is also important to familiarize yourself with the requirements of the venue.
Please do NOT attend the meet if you are feeling ill.
Geek Retreat has no fursuit changing facilities so the Coffee Meets are not suitable for fursuiting. However, we are hoping to resume the Main Meets very soon and will update you as soon as we can.
Thanks for your patience and to everyone who made last night’s meet a success. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to the Coffee Meets soon.Back to all News and Reports
It has been a challenging 18 months due to the COVID pandemic, with uncertainty as to when we would be able to resume meets. As it stands, we are still a fair way away from the regular meets returning, but we are delighted to announce our first Coffee Meet of 2021. It will take place from 5-7:30pm on Tuesday 21 September at Geek Retreat on Central Road in Leeds.
There isn’t planned to be fursuiting at this coffee meet, as this is a shorter evening event and there are no changing facilities available. We will look to resume this with the return of the regular meets later.
As the safety of our attendees is important, we ask that you either demonstrate you are fully vaccinated through the NHS app or present a negative lateral flow test which has been taken no later than 48 hours before the meet commencing. Please also familiarize yourself with the requirements of the venue.
If you feel ill then please do NOT attend the meet. If things go smoothly, we will look to resume the Coffee Meets regularly, with a view to the main meets returning in due course. This means this month’s main meet, scheduled for 18 September, will still be on Discord.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience and understanding, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all again soon.Back to all News and Reports
LeedsFurs have always taken pride in the strength and diversity of our community and the wider Furry fandom. Together we stand against all forms of discrimination including the scourge of racism. We wholeheartedly believe Black Lives Matter and will do everything we can to support POC within our community and around the world.
There should be no place in this world for any form of racism, bigotry or discrimination. Our community has been and always will be inclusive and a safe space for all. We cannot begin to understand what it’s like to face such racial discrimination on a daily basis, but we’d like to help wherever we can.Back to all News and Reports
It was with great regret that we were forced to cancel Saturday’s Leeds Furmeet due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19. We are aware that the news was met with disappointment, but we thank you for the understanding you have shown. In light of the current circumstances, we felt it was the only decision we could make.
With the Government and NHS advocating social distancing to prevent the spread of the virus, we are also aware that this could lead to mental health problems and feelings of loneliness. Added to this is the dislocation felt by the increased uncertainty the virus has brought with it, in terms of our way of life but also the threat to our loved ones and livelihoods. It is clear that we need each other more than ever and that looking after each other will become increasingly important in the coming weeks. We are a global community, but we are also a local community, and we are all in this together.
In lieu of running a physical meet at our usual venue on Saturday, we have decided to launch our first Leeds Discord Social, or LDS, from noon. You will be able to find us here: https://discord.gg/twWsgtd
Everyone is welcome, if you’re local to Leeds or further away, as we don’t see why this virus should stop us from socialising with each other. So, grab your drink of choice, fire up your machine and join us throughout the afternoon on Saturday. Proceedings will begin at noon with our traditional fursuit walk around your own front rooms at the usual time of 2:30pm. We look forward to seeing you.Back to all News and Reports
Following the latest Government and NHS advice on COVID-19 which states that people should avoid all unnecessary social contact in order to minimise the spread of the virus, we have decided that the responsible course of action would be to cancel this month’s main meet, scheduled for this Saturday, 21 March.
This has not been an easy decision and we know the news may come as a disappointment, but we have a responsibility to our community and our city to do everything we can to combat coronavirus. We have made this decision in partnership with the venue, with whom we are frequently liaising. Times could become very tough for the hospitality industry and we have offered our full support to The Old Red Bus Station.
It is uncertain when we will be able to resume the meets so please keep checking this website and our social media channels for details. Meanwhile, please keep following the NHS advice of washing your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds and coughing/sneezing into a tissue. If you feel you may have contracted the virus, please self-isolate for 14 days. Further information on coronavirus can be found on the
Thank you for your understanding on this matter and patience while we looked at our options. We look forward to welcoming you to a Leeds Meet again as soon as possible.
Take care of each other.Back to all News and Reports
Next month will mark the second anniversary of the LeedsFurs Coffee Meets and we have been blown away by how popular the gatherings have been.
We have always thought there was room for a more casual experience in Leeds so thanks to everyone who has attended them.
Sadly, we will no longer be hosting the Coffee Meets in Laynes as they have changed their opening hours and now close at 6pm. We would like to thank Laynes for accommodating us over the last two years and wish them well for the future.
Starting on 3 September, the Coffee Meets will be held at 200° Coffee on Bond Street. Another independent coffee house, they are LGBT friendly and are open until 8pm, giving us even longer to chill. They serve a full range of teas and coffees, and have an extensive food range as well.
We hope you enjoy the new venue and we are looking forward to seeing you all in the autumn.Back to all News and Reports
After the roaring success of our participation in the Leeds Pride parade in 2018 – despite the intensely hot weather – we are delighted to announce we will be doing it all again this year.
Taking place on Sunday 4 August, Leeds Pride is one of the country’s foremost LGBT events and is now in its 13th year. We will be adding to the carnival of colour in Leeds that day, having again secured 30 slots in the parade. This will start at Millennium Square and wind its way down to Lower Briggate, where there will be six hours of entertainment amid a party atmosphere.
Like last year, we are looking for a cross-section of the local furry community – both suiters and non-suiters alike – to join us for one of the biggest parties in our city of the year. The parade begins at 2pm so we would need to assemble beforehand, while afterwards we can enjoy the festivities in an impromptu furmeet. We are likely to hire a van again to enable fursuit changing, but please remember to bring your own water – last year was incredibly hot and it could be the same again.
If you would like to get involved, please contact us via email, drop us a message on our social media channels or speak to one of the staff members at a forthcoming meet. It would be great if you could help us make this the fuzziest Leeds Pride yet!Back to all News and Reports
You may have already seen the stylish LeedsFurs lanyards and T-shirts at the meet, with both items featuring our distinctive logo on top of the city colours of blue, yellow and white.
And the good news is that over the next few months, we will be creating a range of LeedsFurs branded merchandise which will be available to pre-order ahead of each meet.
If you want to be the coolest pup (or cat, or dragon, or orca) in town then drop us a message on any of our social media channels with your order and our team of kittens will get to work. The next orders will be delivered in time for the June meet on the 15th – just collect at the venue on the day.
Right now, you can buy a lanyard for £6 and a T-shirt for £10, but watch this space and the Telegram chat for further merchandise launches!Back to all News and Reports
There has always been a strong link between the furry fandom and the LGBT community so we are proud to announce that there will be an official Leeds Furs presence for the very first time at the city’s Pride event later this year.
Taking place on Sunday 5 August, Leeds Pride is one of the biggest LGBT events in the country and is now in its 12th year. It is a colourful celebration of diversity and we will be adding to that colour, having secured 30 slots in the parade. This will wind its way through the city from Millennium Square to Lower Briggate, where there will be six hours of entertainment, all for free and amidst a carnival atmosphere.
We are therefore looking for a cross-section of the local furry community – both suiters and non-suiters alike – to join us for one of the biggest parties of the year. The parade begins at 2pm so we would need to assemble beforehand, while afterwards we can enjoy the festivities in an impromptu furmeet.
If you would like to get involved, please contact us via email, drop us a message on our social media channels or speak to one of the staff members at a forthcoming meet. It would be great if you could help us make this the furriest Leeds Pride yet!Back to all News and Reports
